Tipong
Pilipino

Tipong Pilipino is a multipurpose center dedicated to Filipino type — the type design and typography that has shaped, and continues to shape, the visual language of the Philippines. Founded in 2019, it operates at the intersection of scholarship, craft, and cultural stewardship.

As a research arm, Tipong Pilipino documents, archives, and critically examines the history and present of Filipino type design — contextualizing letterforms within the broader cultural, social, and political currents in which they were made and continue to live.

As a foundry, it produces type families, bespoke custom typefaces, and digitizations of letterforms found in the Philippine vernacular landscape. Each release — whether an original concept or a commissioned work — is grounded in Filipino context and lived experience.

As a curatorial service, Tipong Pilipino offers consultation and curation for cultural institutions, galleries, publications, companies and government agencies that engage with or speak to a Filipino audience, ensuring that type and visual identity are treated with the care and specificity they deserve.

We welcome collaborators across disciplines — type design, writing, archival work, creative direction, and beyond. If our work resonates, we'd love to hear from you.
